London Scene News: ChristianM 1972–2018

Everyone at Boyz and many people across the scene were shocked and upset to learn that DJ ChristianM died last Saturday. Christian was known to many as one of the founding resident DJs at XXL, where he played for 15 years until he left two years ago. He was a hugely popular person on the scene, a music fanatic who helped define the sound of the club for many years. XXL owner Mark Ames said on Facebook, ‘He will never be forgotten by anyone who danced to the beat of his mix.’

His passing was announced on his Facebook page saying that he had succumbed to ‘a quiet and insidious disease: depression.’ The post also said that it was Christian’s wish that people should talk about depression and suicide, and gave the following information for those who might need it. You can talk to the Samaritans 24/7 by calling 116 123, or by visiting, or you can chat with SANE on 0300 304 7000 or online at
