2018 was a bumper year for The Royal Vauxhall Tavern and this year is already shaping up to be a classic at the much-loved venue that’s home to Duckie, Push The Button, Beefmince, Anthem, Bar Wotever, Big Bingo, Sunday Cabaret and so much more. Here’s a look at what’s coming up this month.
Fridays at The RVT
Friday’s at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern are all about a fine selection of club nights and parties, including this Friday (11 Jan) Eurofest, the best in Eurovision, schlager and europop plus a special live PA from Finland’s fabulous Krista Siegfrids. Next Friday (18 Jan) it’s those tasty boys from Beefmince with pumping tunes and a sexy crowd, and the final Friday of the month, (25 Jan) is of course Push The Button, they play the hits, and have SO much fun doing it.
Duckie – every Saturday
We love everything about Duckie: the music, the best pop and rock and roll from DJs Readers Wifes and guests, host Amy Lamé and door whore Jay Cloth, those amazing performers and the crowd. It’s fun with a large F. And, as if all that wasn’t enough the Boyz award-winning club is now open until 4am every single week.
Sunday Cabaret/Sunday Dance
RVT Sundays have always been something special with their unique mix of brilliant cabaret and mad, bad DJs. Coming up this month we get Mary Mac this Sunday (13 Jan), Miss Penny next Sunday (20 Jan) and the unsinkable Myra DuBois on 27 Jan, and on all these dates you get DJs Simon Le Vans and Liam Chaplin. Plus see below for something exciting in February.
Every Monday and Tuesday
It’s easy to think of any venue in terms of the weekend, but The RVT has a couple of cracking early week regulars that are as brilliant as anything else they do. Every Monday is the hilarious Big Bingo Show hosted by Timberlina and Tuesdays are Bar Wotever, with a host of exciting new LGBT cabaret talent.
The Quizzarding World – A Magical Quiz
Thursday 17 January, 7pm to midnight
We love a decent quiz and for fans of the world’s favourite wizard this quiz put together by six fans is going to be… well magical. Not only do we get six rounds of a wizard quiz, but The Vixens will be performing and it’s raising money for Cabaret vs Cancer. There’s details on how to form a team on the RVT website.
Sunday 3 February, 3pm – 10.30pm
This is not a drill, clear your schedules there’s something new and fabulous heading our way. From February the first Sunday of each and every month will be Mother’s Best at The RVT. Mother is taking control and she’s bringing us some of the UK’s best new talent, including on the first one, the gorgeous and slightly dangerous Dusty Limits and Drag Idol champ, Tracy La Bouche (nee Barlow) plus sexy tunes from DJs Silverhook and Johnny Kalifornia. Tickets are on sale now at mothersbest.co.uk
