Sin Morera is the super hot DJ and producer from New York City who has made himself a second home in the main room DJ box at XXL. This weekend he’s back at Pulse from the Big Apple and Dave Cross had a transatlantic chat to find out what he loves about XXL, London and his new music releases.
Hi Sin, are you excited to be coming back to London for XXL?
Hey Boyz, XXL is one of my favourite rooms for me to play. The owners have been good to me, the staff there are incredible and the audience and energy are off the charts. So yes, super excited!
How does XXL compare to the clubs back home in NYC?
There’s nowhere like it in New York, where things have changed and there’s not many rooms or spaces available anymore. All the big events are in Brooklyn these days.
How would you describe the music you play?
I play on the fly and never plan my sets. I like to play music with soul, so I make my own genre and call it tech soul.
You’ve been to London a few times, apart from XXL what else do you like about the city?
It’s New York’s brother city.
What else have you been up to in 2018?
I just did the Life Ball in Vienna with Paris Jackson, Patti LeBelle, Caitlyn Jenner and more. I’ve released my first music EP with Armada Music alongside Grammy award-winning Roger Sanchez. We just signed a second EP titled The Srum Source, coming out soon on Undr The Radar via Armada Music.
What can you tell us about the new EP?
It’s very underground tech house and it’s coming out this summer.
What other studio stuff are you working on or have coming out soon?
I’m in talks with Patti LaBelle and we are going to write some new music for her.
If you could remix any record in the history of music, what would you choose?
Something by Prince or David Bowie.
What are your plans for the rest of 2018?
Travel, more production, songwriting and moving to Europe.
