Lilies and Sweets, the debut play from Nathan Wright, is on at Pleasance Theatre from Tuesday 5 February for ten days. Based on true events, it tells the story of a chance meeting between two men from very different worlds, that leads to an uncompromising and raw friendship which challenges their understanding of love, addiction, desire, obsession, jealousy, and above all companionship. After moving to London to escape a broken relationship and his drug riddled past, Al struggles to make a living and soon reverts to his old ways of dealing ‘Sweets’. This leads him to the home of Les, a wealthy, elderly writer, who hides his own private battles. This fascinating play tells the story of their unlikely and surprising friendship that develops in ways they could never have predicted.
